war of the world

PROLOGUE

"So, boys, what do you think?

  "Well..."

  "Well?"

  "It's risky..."

"Riskier than a maximum security prison, waiting for a giullotione?"

"..."

"Thank you. So, are you all in? If so..." The figure motioned to the table. The... the stuff was still pulsing like it could care less. "If not ..." He gestured to the pills. The pills were still... well, they still could'nt tell what they were doing. "One pill, you will all find yourselves back were you were before I contacted you."

the room fell Deathly silent.

  "So?"

They hesitated. The stuff scared the shit out them, but if what he said was right... his control would be a small price to pay. certain death,... or the stuff. Not a choice... an alternative.

they argued, then came to a decision.

their leader walked up.

"All right."

Argument paper (final draft) Reading

Final draft:
My essay is about the negative effects of armed security in schools. Sure, they do help keep things safe, but at what cost? Literally? And what about the student’s with nerves? You think they want to see guys with guns running around?  And what if some joker gets his hands on a gun? BANG!
POINT ONE:
THE REQUIRED FUNDING COULD STEEPLY INCREASE EXPENSES- AT THE SCHOOL’S COST. Research has shown that at least two point five billion dollars will be needed to support this project-and just to kick start it. Then there are other, hidden expenses-expenses no loophole will save them from such as insurance premiums and facilitating space for personnel and equipment. To me, that is just too much money. You might as well place guns on the cameras for that price. Also, this will come out of already frozen teacher’s wages. It’s hard enough picking between red and blue pants. It shouldn’t be between red pants and food.
POINT TWO:
THE PRESENCE OF ARMED GUARDS CAN MAKE STUDENT’S UNEASY, DISRUPTING EDUCATION. Research has shown that many students feel uneasy at the sight of an armed officer and you know what that means, less focus on academics. And of course that means grades plummet. And who want’s that? I don’t! True, safety beats uneasiness every time but the sole purpose of schooling, education, beats safety as well
.
POINT THREE:
ALREADY, ONE THIRD OF THE SCHOOLS IN AMERICA ARE GAURDED-TO NO EFFECT. At least one third of the country’s schools are already guarded by armed officers and with little positive effect. The disruptions did not lower and all that happened was a waste of time and money. Let’s not repeat that, shall we? We don’t have much to start with in the first place. And we really could use a new air conditioner in class.
IN CONCLUSION, I have placed three solid obstacles in the way of armed forces at our school.
They can also be backed up by others, but I am tired. And hark! Is that the dinner call I hear from the porch? Then I must be off, for we have just got a copy of Terry Pratchett’s the Hogfather, a famous novel turned live action movie. And so, adieu !

THE SHOOTING

A man once entered a school,
and the principal called a code red.
Unfortunately this was for naught as the fool
was holding 50 rounds of lead.
When he opened fire, the teachers all fled.
But one selfless one hid all the kids.
She suddenly felt a sharp pain
in her back, and fell to never rise again.
A child, seeing her dying friend,
knew that life would soon come to its end.
She dressed up in blood,
and then hit the mud,
which saved her from ending up dead.
The parents nails were bit down to nil,
hoping that their child would not be killed.
If ever they'd had such a fright,
it was nothing compared to that night.
If I was an officer, I'd have cried
for all the children that died
and of the tragedy inside.

The city of Kaputze

Roland looked around him.  Camp Tocheeze (Say it with me now, toe-cheese) wasn't much, but compared with foot rot, malaria, poison dart frogs, quicksand, and carnivorous giant land jungle clams, it seemed much better now.

  "John!"

  "Yes?"

  "Are the mules ready?"

  "Yes!"

  "All right then. let's go."

ONE HOUR LATER, they were completely lost.

  "Now what?"

"Now we think of something  to do before we die," Roland said. He didn't like lying to people, so he didn't. especially not family like his brother, John. That would be cruel.

"Don't be such a pessimist!" John shouted. "We have evidence. Kaputze may still exist!"

"SHUT UP! the scans came back and-"

"You said yourself that the scans could be inaccurate!"

  "Well I-

A piercing 'CLACK! CLACK!' cut him off. the color drained from their faces as they both realized that it was a pack of-

  "LAND CLAMS!"

These 7ft. tall, 10ft. wide blind clams had jagged, irregular teeth sprouting from within the folds of their lacy, pink crimped shells, 4 legs and 2 masculine tentacles(weird.). Their pearls were worth $75000, and their flesh was considered a local delicacy.  Both on and off the plate, they were a force to  be reckoned with. The only way to deal with them was to:
1) have a battle chef on your team,
2) carry a maul with you at all times, or
3)stay silent until out of hearing range then run like madmen in the opposite direction.

Roland and John both drew their mauls. They waited for the first one walked in between them, then simultaneously slammed down their hammers on it.The shell shattered, the spiked mauls stabbing the soft interior.

The remaining 9 did not hesitate. the pack surged forward, tentacles extended the brothers charged, mauls at the ready.

One hour later,  the blood of clams splattered the clearing. The brothers collected the pearls, ate the dead clams and relaxed.

Then, they heard a rumble. 30 clams were charging towards their position. they froze. no one could beat 40 clams in 2 hours.

Then Roland saw it. He nudged John, who started to smile.

It was a bit of carved, jewelled stone. It looked like a corner of a ziggurat.
They held still. They waited, then bolted. They ran for miles. When their legs gave, they crawled. The last thing Roland saw before blacking out was the city. They made it! He saw natives running towards him. They found him blacked out, smiling.
